From the Runway to the Altar — A Lake Tahoe Wedding
There are weddings where everything clicks: the light, the landscape, the couple, the flowers, and Emma and Ross's day in the Sierra Nevada was exactly that.
Their venue sat in the foothills just outside the Lake Tahoe basin, at River Highlands Ranch, and it's the kind of setting that makes your job as a florist feel like a privilege. The property was rich with natural texture: rolling meadows, rugged mountain views, old-growth trees, and that quality of late-afternoon Sierra light that turns everything into gold. It's a setting that doesn't need much embellishment. Our job was simply to respond to it.
The Floral Vision
Emma came to us with a clear sense of what she wanted and we leaned into that fully. The palette drew from classic green and whites and she wanted an edgy, heavy amaranth moment. We worked with seasonal blooms — tulips, star of bethlehem, tweedia, calla lilies, ranunculus and of course the amaranth. Nothing too precious. Everything intentional. Everything was grown in California by farmers we know.
The reception brought everything together. Long tables were dressed with low, meandering centerpieces — not blocking conversation, but drawing the eye down the length of the table and creating that sense of a garden pulled indoors. Tapers and candlelight did the rest.
Designing for the Sierra Nevada
Outdoor mountain weddings have their own set of considerations, and Lake Tahoe area florals need to be built for the environment. Wind and temperature shifts are real, the Sierra Nevada has its own microclimate, and arrangements need to be designed accordingly. We build our florals with longevity in mind: appropriate water sources, sturdy stems, and bloom timing that accounts for mountain conditions.
The natural surroundings are also your greatest asset. Rich earth tones, organic textures, and garden-inspired arrangements always feel more at home in this landscape than something structured or formal. The mountains are the backdrop — the flowers should feel like they grew nearby.
And because we're based right here in Incline Village, we know this land well. We source from California growers, including from our own cutting garden, which means the flowers arriving at your wedding are as fresh and regionally grounded as they can be.
The Team That Made It Happen
Days like Emma and Ross's don't happen without a vendor community that knows how to work together. We were honored to share the floor with:
Photography: Nichole Lee Photo
Videography: Abel Guitron Photography
Hair & Makeup: Polish and Pout
Jewelry: Sierra Moon Goldsmiths
Cake: Crave Cakes
Every one of these vendors brought craft and intention to Emma and Ross's day, and it showed in every frame.
