If you're planning a wedding at Lake Tahoe, you already know the venue books fast. What most couples don't realize is that their florist fills up just as quickly — sometimes faster.
Here's an honest timeline from a florist who works this market year-round.
The short answer: 12 months out for peak season
Peak season at Tahoe runs June through October. If your date falls anywhere in that window — especially July, August, or early September — expect the best florists to be booking a year in advance. This isn't sales pressure. It's just the math of a region with a short outdoor wedding season and limited vendors who do this work at a high level.
I regularly receive inquiries for summer dates in March and April from couples who are already competing with two or three other bookings for the same weekend.
Off-season is a different story
November through May is a different market entirely. Snow season weddings — especially at venues like The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe or intimate indoor affairs in Truckee — often have more flexibility. If you're open to a late October, winter, or early spring date, you'll likely find your florist more available and sometimes more excited. There's something genuinely beautiful about designing for a snowy Tahoe backdrop with forced branches, winter berries, and hellebores.
That said, "more flexible" doesn't mean "last minute." Even off-season, I'd suggest booking at least six to eight months out.

Your first-choice florist is unavailable. Not booked-out-forever unavailable — just booked for your specific date, which in a region like Tahoe with concentrated peak weekends, happens constantly.
You end up choosing based on availability rather than fit. That's a frustrating position to be in for a decision this personal.
