There is nowhere else quite like this on the lake. Built in 1903 as a summer retreat for a San Francisco banking family, the mansion — originally called Pine Lodge — sits on a knoll above Sugar Pine Point, with expansive lawns running down to the water's edge. It is grand without being stiff, historic without being heavy, and it carries the particular quality that only old Tahoe properties have: the feeling that the land itself has been held carefully for a very long time.

At Hellman-Ehrman, that means leaning into the wildness of the west shore: the dense sugar pine forest, the granite stonework of the mansion itself, the way the afternoon light hits the water from this particular stretch of Highway 89. We work with locally sourced and foraged materials (dahlias, ranunculus, dried grasses, seasonal branches) that feel like they grew nearby, because many of them did.

The lakefront ceremony site accommodates up to 100 guests  and is one of the most naturally beautiful ceremony settings in the Tahoe Basin — open sky, water, forest, the mansion as backdrop. It calls for an arch or ceremony installation with real presence but an organic, unstructured quality. Nothing rigid. Nothing that competes with what's already there. The event site in front of the mansion is well suited to receptions  and the rustic wooden gazebo adds a natural accent that makes lush, slightly wild table arrangements feel completely at home — think garden-gathered textures, warm tones, and loose movement rather than tight and formal.
