Wedding Flowers at Edgewood Tahoe: A Florist's Guide to the Most Iconic Venue on the Lake
There is no venue in the Lake Tahoe market quite like Edgewood. The lakefront lawn, the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada, the quality of light in the late afternoon — it sets a bar that your flowers either meet or they don't. We've designed florals for Edgewood weddings and here's what we've learned.
The Venue Does the Heavy Lifting
Edgewood's setting is so strong that the instinct to over-design is real — and it's almost always the wrong call. Couples who arrive with inspiration boards full of lush, overflowing tablescapes sometimes need a gentle redirect. When your backdrop is that lake and those mountains, competing with it doesn't work. Complementing it does.
What that looks like in practice: arrangements that feel native to the landscape. Wildflower-style bouquets with movement and texture. Foraged grasses, seed heads, and foliage that echo what's growing in the Sierra. Color palettes pulled from the landscape itself with dusty sage, warm ivory, terracotta, the deep blue of the water.
What the Conditions Demand
Edgewood is fully exposed. Lakeside ceremonies get wind off the water, direct sun, and in summer, real heat by midday. That means your floral design has to account for conditions, not just aesthetics.
We build Edgewood arrangements with structure: stems that hold their shape outdoors, foliage that won't wilt in an hour, and anchoring techniques that keep ceremony pieces stable in wind. Hardy choices like dahlias, lisianthus, dried grasses, and textural foliage all perform well here. Delicate blooms like sweet peas and anemones need careful handling and timing.
Timing matters as much as flower choice. We schedule delivery and setup so nothing is sitting in sun longer than it has to be. Your flowers should look as good during your reception as they did at the ceremony.
Ceremony vs. Reception Design
Edgewood's ceremony space and reception spaces have different design needs. The ceremony lawn is about scale — the arch or altar installation has to hold its own against that backdrop, which means going bigger than you might elsewhere. Thin, sparse arrangements disappear against the lake. You want presence.
The reception spaces inside Edgewood are more contained and intimate, which is actually where you can dial up detail — lush centerpieces, bud vases, candle and foliage runners. The contrast between the grand outdoor ceremony and the warm indoor reception is part of what makes Edgewood weddings feel complete.
What We've Done There
Nicole hired us for her Edgewood wedding wanting playful, colorful, and fun — and that's exactly what we built. The lakefront setting gave us permission to go bold with color in a way that might feel overwhelming indoors but felt completely at home against that backdrop.
"Golden Flowers did a great job, I would hire them again in a heartbeat. I wanted playful, colorful and fun and the flowers they created were just that." — Nicole, Edgewood Lake Tahoe
