Lakefront weddings on Tahoe's east shore

Why this venue matters

A historic estate on the water.

Thunderbird Lodge is a 1936 stone estate on Lake Tahoe's quiet east shore, a National Historic Site with lawns and terraces that open straight onto some of the clearest water on the lake. There is nothing else like it in the basin.

Florals here share the stage with hand-cut granite, old-growth timber, and the lake itself. The work has to feel as considered and enduring as the architecture, never decorative for its own sake.

The estate hosts smaller, exclusive celebrations, which means the design can be detailed and architectural without getting lost. Every arrangement reads up close.

Historic estate

A 1936 stone estate and National Historic Site, with a boathouse, tunnels, and the Old Lodge set into the shoreline.

East Shore

On Tahoe's quiet Nevada east shore, framed by granite and some of the clearest, deepest blue water on the lake.

Lakefront

Ceremonies on the lawn and stone terraces open right onto the water. Design has to live up to that light and leave it unobstructed.

Intimate

The estate hosts smaller, exclusive celebrations, so florals can be detailed and architectural and still read up close.

Design philosophy

How we approach Thunderbird Lodge florals.

Honor the architecture

Stone, timber, and craftsmanship define this estate. We design florals with the same sense of permanence, structural, material-forward, and built to belong to the place.

Frame the lake

The water is the centerpiece. We keep sightlines open with height, transparency, and negative space so arrangements add to the view rather than compete with it.

Palette from the east shore

Granite gray, pine green, and the deep blue of the lake. We bring whites, soft neutrals, and moments of depth that feel native to the shoreline.

California-sourced, always

No flowers flown in from overseas. Every arrangement uses blooms grown in California, from our own farm and the growers we've worked with for years.

Questions about Thunderbird Lodge

What planning at Thunderbird Lodge looks like.

Do you design florals for Thunderbird Lodge weddings?
Yes. We design for the estate's lawns, stone terraces, and the Old Lodge, and we plan around the site's access and historic-property guidelines so setup and breakdown stay smooth and respectful of the grounds.
What does a typical Thunderbird Lodge wedding budget look like?
Full-service florals here typically start around $18,000 and rise with installation scale and guest count, reflecting the estate's level and logistics. Every proposal is custom, built around your vision, table count, and the spaces you're using.
How does access to the estate work?
Thunderbird Lodge has limited road and boat access along the east shore, so load-in is coordinated carefully with the venue and your planner. We build and stage with that in mind from the start.
How far in advance should I reach out?
Peak summer and fall Saturdays fill 12–18 months ahead, so reach out early when you can. If your date is sooner, reach out anyway and we'll let you know availability.
