Northstar · Mountaintop Lodge

Schaffer's Camp.

Weddings at 7,900 feet, by gondola

Why this venue matters

A lodge on top of the mountain.

Schaffer's Camp sits at 7,900 feet on the west ridge of Northstar, reached by gondola. The Tahoe Mountain Club lodge pairs walls of glass and three stone fireplaces with a wide deck open to the High Sierra.

The setting is intimate but the views are enormous. Florals here work against a backdrop of glass, timber, and mountain light, and they have to read both indoors by the fire and out on the deck.

It's also a venue at altitude, reached by lift, so the flowers need the conditioning and structure to arrive fresh and hold through a full mountaintop day.

Mountaintop

At 7,900 feet on Northstar's west ridge, reached by gondola. A Tahoe Mountain Club lodge with glass walls and stone fireplaces.

Alpine views

Floor-to-ceiling windows and a wide deck open onto the High Sierra. Design reads against a very big mountain backdrop.

Intimate

Built for smaller mountaintop celebrations, so florals can be rich and detailed and still feel right at scale.

At altitude

Thin, dry air and a gondola load-in mean conditioning, hardy stem choice, and careful timing all matter.

Design philosophy

How we approach Schaffer's Camp florals.

Built for altitude

Thin, dry air is hard on cut flowers. We choose hardy varieties, condition them thoroughly, and build with water sources that keep everything alive through a full day on the ridge.

Glass and fire

The lodge is timber, stone, and light. We design warm, textural arrangements for the fireside interior and crisp, structural pieces that hold up against the windows and the view.

Indoors and out

Ceremonies on the deck, dinner by the fire. We carry one palette and language across both so the day reads as a single designed event.

Planned around the gondola

Every stem rides the gondola to the top. We plan the build, packing, and load-in around that, so setup is calm and the flowers arrive at full freshness.

Questions about Schaffer's Camp

What planning at Schaffer's Camp looks like.

Do you design florals for Schaffer's Camp weddings?
Yes. Mountaintop lodges like Schaffer's Camp are some of our favorites to design for. We plan around the altitude, the glass-and-fire interior, the deck, and a gondola load-in, and walk you through exactly how we'd approach your spaces.
What does a typical Schaffer's Camp wedding budget look like?
Full-service florals here typically range from $15,000–$26,000+. That covers consultation through day-of breakdown, ceremony installation, bridal party florals, and reception centerpieces. Every proposal is custom.
How does the gondola affect setup?
Everything travels up by gondola, so we build and pack with that in mind and coordinate load-in timing with the venue and your planner. It's a logistics question we plan for from the start.
How far in advance should I reach out?
Peak summer and fall Saturdays fill 12–18 months ahead, so reach out early when you can. If your date is sooner, reach out anyway and we'll let you know availability.
